Dockside Scouting Experience 

Scouts will learn…

Navigation – includes triangulation, an introduction to speed/time/distance calculations and hands-on use of period navigation tools.

Knot Tying – learn how to tie several different knots and their practical applications.

Mechanical Advantage – including an introduction to the physics of sailing, and how simple machines can be used to benefit the sailor.

What to know before booking:

• Program is 60 minutes
• Recommended for Scouts and students ages 8 – 13
• Cost is $20 per person; includes two complimentary chaperone tickets
• Each participant will receive a goodie bag, including a fun patch
• Ratio of scouts to adults must be compliant with the requirements of affiliated scouting organizations
• Younger siblings will be counted as an attendee
• Minimum of 10 scouts

SCOUTING ADVENTURE SAIL

Scouts will learn…

• Navigation – includes triangulation, an introduction to speed/time/distance calculations and hands-on use of period navigation tools.
• Knot Tying – learn how to tie several different knots and their practical applications.
• Mechanical Advantage – including an introduction to the physics of sailing, and how simple machines can be used to benefit the sailor.
• Line and Sail Handling – Scouts will help Providence’s crew haul the lines and set the sails!

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE BOOKING: 

• Sails are two hours
• Recommended for Scouts and students ages 8-13
• Cost is $2,300 per sail
• Maximum of 30 passengers
• Each scout will receive a goodie bag, including a fun patch
