Safety is always our top priority. While we will make every effort to carry out our scheduled programming, if the Captain determines that an activity must be delayed or cannot take place due to weather, the Captain’s word is law. In general, Providence operates rain or shine. That being said, the Captain may assess a delay or cancellation in the event of a thunderstorm, severe heat, or other weather event that may affect the safety of our guests and crew.
If tickets are sold and the weather forecast takes a turn for the worse, we will email and text all ticket holders as soon as possible when a weather-related delay or cancellation decision has been made. We will do everything we can to alert you as far ahead of time as possible.
We reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone deemed intoxicated.
All ticket purchases are final and non refundable unless an event is canceled by Tall Ship Providence.
In the event that we are unable to host a scheduled tour, sail, or other event, every effort will be made to reschedule. If that is not possible, a refund will be issued via the means of purchase (i.e., credit card, PayPal, etc.). If you are unable to attend an event, you may be reimbursed in the form of store credit.
Due to the historic nature of the ship, Providence is not accessible to wheelchairs. While we would love to accommodate guests with limited mobility, our gangway is narrow and access from deck to deck aboard ship is via steep ladders and narrow steps. If visitors are able to walk short distances, we will happily show them as much of the ship as possible. The dock and cottages of the Maritime Heritage Center are ADA compliant and wheelchair accessible.
Please note that the gangway and ladders may also present a challenge to families visiting with small children. Although our staff goes to great effort to ensure the safety of every visitor, parents are asked to be especially vigilant in watching and assisting their children while they are on the ship. While our ladders are no more challenging than most playground equipment, the size of the gaps between the rungs may be difficult for children under 5.
Service animals are permitted aboard Providence and in the Maritime Heritage Center provided that they remain under the control of their handler. Please note that the ladders to move from one deck of the ship to another may present a challenge to some service animals. Pets and Emotional Support Animals are not allowed aboard Providence or inside the cottages of the Maritime Heritage Center. Please be aware that the deck of the ship may be splintery for animals with bare paws.
Pets are more than welcome to enjoy the outdoor portion of the dock of the Maritime Heritage Center and The Pier Bar!
