Providence is unable to set sail at this time. We hope to complete the necessary repairs to get her sailing again in the future, but this project will likely take several years and a lot of money.
If you would like to contribute to our repair fund, you may do so here. For larger contributions, please reach out to Kathy Seifert at kathy@tallshipprovidence.org.
Tours and events typically run rain or shine! In the event of severe weather, please keep an eye on your email for any day-of announcements.
All ticket purchases are final and nonrefundable unless a tour is canceled by Tall Ship Providence. Tours can be rescheduled at no additional cost by reaching out to us at info@tallshipprovidence.org.
Yes! We understand that things happen, and are happy to help you reschedule your tour for another date or time. Please contact us at info@tallshipprovidence.org to help you reschedule.
Yes! Children and babies are welcome aboard the ship. For safety, we ask that you keep your children next to you at all times during the tour. The gangway and ladders may present a challenge to families visiting with small children. While our ladders are no more challenging than most playground equipment, the size of the gaps between the rungs may be difficult for small children.
For our smallest visitors, we suggest wearing your baby in a sling or harness for ease of maneuvering around the ship.
Remember, each person counts as one of your guests and must be ticketed, even babies. Tickets for children aged 2 & under are free.
Yes, ask a member of our crew and we will be happy to lock your stroller inside one of the cottages.
Unfortunately, ships in the eighteenth century were not accessible to wheelchairs and Providence is not either. While we would love to accommodate guests with limited mobility, our gangway is narrow and access to the ship requires climbing steep ladders. If visitors are able to walk short distances, we will happily show them as much of the ship as possible.
The gangways are wide enough to accommodate walkers. However, there are a few steps that visitors must climb down at the end of the ship’s gangway to board the ship. Similarly, climbing ladders are the only way to move between the decks. Our staff will do everything possible to assist guests who use a walker.
Restrooms are available for use at the Maritime Heritage Center to guests of Providence and The Pier Bar. The nearest public restroom to us is at the Torpedo Factory nearby.
During your tour of Providence you will be climbing up and down ladders between decks. For this reason, we suggest that guests wear comfortable pants or shorts. Providence is a working ship, so we recommend flat shoes with non-slip soles and closed toes.
There is air conditioning and heat in the hold (below deck) and the Captain’s Cabin only. In the summer, our main deck is partially shaded from sun exposure during tours and other docked events. During winter months, the ship will be tented to protect from inclement weather.
You are welcome to take as many pictures as you like on a tour or sail, and we hope you will tag us on social media with #TallShipProvidence. Video is not permitted during a Dockside Tour.
No outside alcohol may be brought onto the dock. However, we sell a variety of beer, wines and spirits at The Pier Bar on the dock.
Smoking (or vaping) of any kind is not allowed in any of our facilities.
