Visit to The Wharf

Providence will visit the District Wharf for the duration of our 2022 season!

We are thrilled to announce that we are expanding our outreach to bring Providence to the lovely folks of Washington, D.C.  We will continue to offer dockside tours and public sails, as well as private charters and events, from the Day Docks at The Wharf.

  • How long will Providence be at The Wharf?

Providence will remain at The Wharf through our sailing season at the end of October.  Don’t worry, Providence will be back in Old Town for next year!

  • Will Providence be returning to Old Town at all during the season?

Providence will return to Old Town for a select few events during the 2022 season, but will be operating primarily at The Wharf through October.  Check our calendar for announcements about our 2022 season and when we will be returning to Alexandria!

  • Where can we buy tickets?

Our Ticket Office & Gift Shop is located on the Transit Pier, right next to the Water Taxi’s ticket office.  The address is 950 Wharf Street SW, Washington, DC 20024.  You can also purchase tickets by clicking right here.

  • Will there be any new and exciting programming while Providence is at The Wharf?

Yes!  We are always looking for ways to improve our programming to give guests the best experience that we can, so we are making a few changes to our programs for the 2022 season.  For starters, we are extending our public sails to 3 hours long!  Lots of folks have been hoping to see the sails set for longer, watch the crew climb the rigging, and help out hauling on lines to participate in the setting of the sails.  This will give us an opportunity do to all of these things, and still have time to relax and visit the Aft Cabin and Hold.

Additionally, we are re-vamping our dockside tours for this season.  Tours will be a semi-guided open house format, with several costumed Historical Interpreters providing any and all information about Providence and her role in the American Revolution and the Continental Navy, as well as everything you want to know about our Providence today.
